Strong Grandma

Catherine Kuehn is an impressive 95-year-old powerlifter with an incredible and uplifting story told by the New Yorker.

At the age of 85, Mrs. Kuehn began powerlifting for exercise on her doctor’s advice. This led her down a path of a new passion.

At her first powerlifting competition, she heard the crowd roaring with excitement and wanted to keep competing. She continued to compete with the support of her husband, her lifting partner, Peggy, and her coach.

Catherine’s husbands passed away, and she continued to live with Peggy. This kept her going in life. She loved having a hobby even though it was so hard without her husband, Dick around. Peggy became her other half and best friend.

They went to every competition together and practiced during the week together. They did it all.

Catherine was able to live on and continue her passion knowing her husband Dick was watching her do what she loves some place else.

As Catherine’s career slowed, she wanted to hit the goal of deadlifting 100 pounds. The first time she attempted this, it was not successful. She said to herself that she could not give up powerlifting quite yet and that she had to hit her goal first. She tried one more time and hit her goal! She was successful. She was able to deadlift 100 pounds at the age of 95.

Catherine is healthy for her age and has continued to move, stay active, and lift weights, and she loves doing it. She is happy at her age and is very healthy for her age. Mrs. Kuehns’s story is remarkable and shows that it is possible to stay healthy at 95 if you continue to move your body!
